Since my father passed away, my mother and I have made a 20 year tradition of going to the movies on Christmas Day. The first year it started out as just an attempt to get out of the house which only housed the two of us and both of us lacking a Christmas Spirit. Well two decades later it has become a tradition and I look forward to spending the time with her, no longer strictly out of sadness.
This brings me to the blog post today. I look forward to selecting the Christmas Day movie for us, and this year I’ve already found it. We all know that anything with Denzel is a win, so on Christmas Day, Fences will hit theaters.
Fences, starring Denzel Washington and his adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award- winning play by August Wilson will also star Viola Davis. The film follows a former baseball player from the Negro leagues in 1950s Pittsburgh. I’m certain that this is going to be a great film that we both will enjoy this Christmas. Watch the trailer below and let me know if you are going to check it out!
